During two years we were working in Venezuela: The Andes, The East, the Coastal Range and the Southeast. We were able to get near 40 species.

In May 2007 we attended the invitation of our good friend Luis Mazariegos, author of the book Hummingbirds of Colombia and Director of The Hummingbird Conservancy. In Cali, Colombia and the Western Andes branch we recorded 10 species in a week.

In July 2007 we made finally our first trip to Ecuador, shooting in Mindo Lindo (Heike Brieschke & Pedro Peñafiel), Mindo  (El Descanso), Guango Lodge y Cabañas San Isidro (Carmen Bustamante). We got 27 species in 15 days.

September 2007, trip to the Southeastern Venezuela, to Barquilla de Fresa. We got outstanding shots of the Crison Topaz, remade in HD several species and got the NEW endemic Velvet-browed Brilliant.

October 2007, trip to Southern Ecuador visiting the Jocotoco reserves of Buenaventura, Jorupe, Utuana and tapichalaca, plus Copalinga in Zamora. 16 new species were recorded for a total of 80 to date. Among them the spectacular RAINBOW STARFRONTLET.

January 2008, trip to Panama visiting Los Quetzales, Canopy Lodge, Canopy Tower and Sierra Llorona Lodge. 16 Species were recorded, 11 new, althougth the Snowcap was too far from our standards. Among them the outstanding Fiery-throated Hummingbird, the Magnificent Hummingbird, the Violet Sabrewing and the Violet-crowned Woodnymph.

March 2008: Northern and Eastern Ecuador. Six new species: Shining Sunbeam, Great Sapphirewing, White-tailed Hillstar, Sapphire-vented Puffleg, Golden-breasted Puffleg, Gorgeted Sunangel. Aditionally great new shots of one third of the other species.

April-May 2008: Southeastern Brazil, Itatiaia National Park, Serra do Mar and Ubatuba. We got 15 new gorgeous species, among which are the Frilled and Festive Coquettes, the outstanding Saw-billed Hermit and the elegant Swallow-tailed Hummingbird.

June 2008: Peru. We had an unsuccessful trip to Perú, where we were only able to get the Amazilia Hummingbird and the Olive-spotted Hummingbird. It ended up abruptely with the failure of the camcorder, we had to evaluate the odds and decided that it was about time  to end the project end here, at least in this first stage.

August 2008:

The Hummingbird Society (www.hummingbirdsociety.org) starts to sell both versions of The Video Guide to Hummingbirds. A Special Edition is prepared and the back cover has a text with the review and recommendations of The Society. (see text on the Reviews section)

Enero 2008, viaje a Panama visitando Los Quetzales, Canopy Lodge, Canopy Tower y Sierra Llorona Lodge.

Abril-Mayo 2008: Sureste de Brasil Brazil, Itatiaia National Park, Serra do Mar y Ubatuba.
